Celebration Spot

Honouring and celebrating our student's achievements

Each week we love to celebrate any students who may have achieved something significant during the past week; sporting events, dancing, baptisms, theatre, music achievements, new babies etc. both inside school and outside school.

Please email reception@dcs.tas.edu.au with the details (we would love a photo too!) so we can celebrate together as a community.

Rum'un in Devonport Living Well Competition

A few of our secondary students recently submitted an entry into the Rum'un in Devonport Living Well Competition on behalf of our school, and their entry was selected as the Runner Up winner! Well done to the students for their creativity and effort, and congratulations!

Devonport Eisteddfod

Over the last two weeks, many of our talented DCS students participated in the Devonport Eisteddfod, with a number of students winning medals and awards for their performances!

Charlotte (Year 2) competed in the Speech & Drama section of the Devonport Eisteddfod and received 1st place in the 8 years & under Recitation, and 2nd place in the 8 years & under Poem Recitation by an Australian Author categories.

Polly (Year 4) and Asha (Year 4) won 1st place in the duologue section at the Devonport Eisteddfod. Both girls take Drama classes at Lifeway Baptist Church and their teacher Morgan Read has worked with them all year to prepare their piece ‘This is My Song!’

The win was especially sweet as both girls were struck down with the flu in the week leading up to the Eisteddfod and were unsure if they would be well enough to go on! They battled through lost voices and fatigue to do a very funny performance.
