Principal's Message
To Strive, To Seek, To Care with HEART
Dear Families and Friends,
I’m delighted to report that last Monday’s storm caused only minor damage, thanks to Graham Schmidt and the maintenance team for trimming our big trees last term. We will continue with our annual audit of the grounds and act on the expert advice provided to us.
I’d like to congratulate Mrs Michelle Fleming on the success of her first musical as Head of Creative Industries. Bring It On sold over 1,000 tickets and was an audience favourite, particularly during the primary school matinee. She was ably supported by Micaela Hull, Maali Kidd, Jasmine Hull, Tracy Hurst, and Tiana Bateman, our Marketing team and many volunteers. A special thank you to the Parents’ & Friends’ Association for organising the desserts for intermission, and to our wonderful café staff for the pre-show dinners.
School photos were completed in Week 6, followed by the change to summer uniform. However, with the unpredictable weather and chilly mornings, it’s a good idea to keep checking the forecast each day. We also celebrated Wear It Purple Day, which saw students and staff sporting bright and colourful socks.
Reading Week was another wonderful celebration of the written word, with many students and staff dressing up for the assembly. Some costumes showed great creativity and effort, and I was delighted by the enthusiasm and spirit of participation.
This week we also held our second Space Out Festival, a celebration of wellbeing proudly sponsored by Yeperenye Shopping Centre. This coincided with RUOK? Day. Each House nominated students to compete in a “space out” challenge, with prizes of Yeperenye gift vouchers. Congratulations to our first-place winner, who received a $100 voucher and thank you to Yeperenye.
Our annual Round Square FLECS Service Trip returned to Ti Tree for the week. A group of eight students and two teachers taught science lessons, supported classrooms and joined in a range of activities. Thank you to our Round Square Coordinator, Alex Pollitt, for organising and running the week, and to Nathanial Newman for his leadership in science.
Looking ahead to next week –
Tuesday 16th - 2:00 to 4:30pm - Learning Expo - Discovery Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity to view and celebrate student work, and I encourage you to come along.
Term 3 concludes on Friday 19 September at 1:30pm. Please note that council buses will not be running at this time, so alternative arrangements will be needed for student pick-up.
For families supporting Year 12 students, please encourage them to stay focused on revision for their trial exams and to complete any outstanding work.
Wishing you a safe and restful holiday break.
Warm regards,
Leslie Tilbrook
