The past three weeks have been an incredibly busy and exciting time for our Preps!
We began with a science incursion from Monash University. Students explored how volcanic eruptions affect ecosystems and weather, and had the opportunity to examine volcanic rocks and materials. They were fascinated by the idea that eruptions can shape the land and influence the environment around us.
Our very first excursion took us to the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. The children were captivated by the music, listening closely to the way different instruments worked together. A highlight of the day was meeting Eliza Shepard, the star of the performance, who impressed us all with her talent and her warmth. Students were thrilled to be able to say hello and take a photo with her.
We also hosted our first Go Public event. Thank you to all the families who came along to support us. Students presented their inquiry projects, which explored the Wurundjeri seasonal calendar. Each group shared their interpretation of the seasons through a range of creative art forms, including painting and collage. The children were incredibly proud of their work, and it was wonderful to see their efforts celebrated.
Finally, students had the opportunity to experience a performance by the Australian Ballet. While our Preps may still be a little young to perform ballet themselves, they were captivated by the storytelling, movement, and costumes. It was a truly inspiring experience that showed students how dance can be used as a powerful form of expression.
It has been such a joy to see the Preps engage so enthusiastically in these rich learning experiences. The past few weeks have been filled with curiosity, creativity and special memories we will carry into the rest of the year.
