Dear Clayton North Primary School Community

As we approach the end of Term 3, I would like to thank all families for your support in getting your children to school on time, attending the weekly assemblies where you can, being across school and classroom communciation, and ensuring provision of consent and payment via Compass for your children to attend school-organised events!

Thank you to all families who have taken the time to provide feedback via the 2025 Parent Opinion Survey. Your input is important to us, and it will contribute greatly to the future management and organisation of our school.

Student scholarships for Year 4 - 6 students

The Department of Education administers a range of scholarships on behalf of various trusts. Scholarships are available to students currently enrolled in Year 4 to Year 6.

Applicants for the scholarships are evaluated on their:

· academic achievement

· participation in school activities

· community involvement.

Scholarships are either one-off payments or available for the duration of the student’s course/study.

Scholarships support students and families to assist with the cost of education and engagement in further study at primary, secondary and tertiary level.

Eligibility

Students must be enrolled in Victorian schools and must be Australian citizens or permanent residents. Some scholarships are available specifically to Victorian government school students while others are available to students across all sectors.

Scholarships may be targeted to students experiencing financial hardship, and trusts may have particular eligibility criteria.

Can students apply for more than one scholarship?

Students are encouraged to carefully identify and apply for scholarships where they meet the criteria.

Chess Victoria Tournament

The lunchtime program offered by the Healthy Minds Chess Academy has had a positive take-up from interested students. A group of 8 students have been regular enrolments since June this year.

Five students were selected to represent Clayton North PS at the annual Chess Tournament Victoria last Thursday. The competition was fierce amongst the schools that attended. Although our team did not place, it was a great experience for them.

Thank you to Linda for driving the students to the venue and back, and supervising them during the event.

A huge congratulations to the students: Aaron Saldanha, Alif Rahman, Joshua Buxey, Santi Alvarado Rojas, and Ryan Phan. At 5 years of age, Ryan would have been one of the youngest players at the tournament!

School Communication

As we head into the term holidays, I want to encourage all families to ensure that you are connected to the school via all three platforms that we use for communication - Compass, Seesaw and the newsletters. If you do not have access or are unable to access any one of the three platforms, please contact the office for assistance. Key information and messages go out to families on a regular basis, so it is important to have your notifications switched on for both Compass and Seesaw.

Final student-free day for 2025

We have one student-free day left for this year, out of the five days that families were notified of at the beginning of the year. Monday, 10th November will be used for finalising Semester 2 reports.

School Uniform

As we head into Term 4, I would like your support with the Clayton North Uniform Policy, which is attached below for your reference. Uniform items can be purchased from PSW, our uniform provider, located on Springvale Road in Glen Waverley.

To generate school pride and improve community perception of CNPS, it is important that all students attend in proper school uniform.

If there is a reason why your child cannot wear the appropriate uniform, please make a time to discuss this with me early next term. Thank you, in advance, for your continued support.

I take this opportunity to wish all staff, students and families, a safe and enjoyable holiday break!
