As Term Three draws to a close, the College remains committed to offering every student excellent learning opportunities. We sincerely thank our dedicated teachers for their hard work and ongoing support throughout the term.
Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews
Thank you to all the parents/carers who took the time to meet with staff during last week’s Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews. Strong communication between home and school is vital in supporting students’ learning journeys. For students who received advice on improving their outcomes, now is the perfect time to act on your teachers’ recommendations. If you were unable to attend, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teachers via PAM, email or phone.
Booklists (Term Zero – Year 12 and Early English novels Year 11)
Booklists for 2025 will be available to all students in the coming week. Booklists will be posted on the College website. Information about booklists and when they are live will be communicated through PAM.
Booklists will need to be completed online through Campion by Friday, 24th October, in order to receive books ready for the commencement of Term Zero on Monday, 17th November.
If purchasing second-hand online, please be sure to check the current booklists to ensure that you are purchasing the correct editions. Please note that Edrolo books are reprinted and updated yearly; the College will distribute them at the beginning of Term One, 2026.
Please note that stationery will also be book-listed through Campion this year.
Exam Study
Parents/carers, families, and students can do some specific things to maximise achievement during this time.
1. Make sure the student has a space that is in some way similar to an exam situation – perhaps sitting at a desk or a table with good lighting and appropriate heating/cooling – not sitting or lying on the bed.
2. Ensure the student is as prepared and planned as possible. This includes sleep, regular mealtimes, hydration, exercise, staying connected, being part of family events, and having a planned study schedule.
3. Once the student has begun studying or completing a Trial Exam, allow them to have quiet time to focus and do their best. No interruptions. No distractions. No phones.
4. Encourage the student to stay out of their room while they are completing exams.
5. Keep a light, airy zone as the exam space, not the couch or the bed.
6. Students should give themselves time between Trial exams. Don’t try and do them all in one day. Space them out across the two weeks.
7. Students should treat every Trial exam as a proper exam. Make sure there is enough time to complete the paper. Time yourself precisely as the real exam will be. Use the reading time properly and write the answers in the sort of detail that the instructions require.
8. Have a checklist of the Trial Exams you are planning to complete. Cross them off once they’re done. What a great feeling that will be.
We thank parents/carers and families in advance for the vast support you will provide to your Unit 3 & 4 students during this holiday period. We are confident that each student will do their best. We ask that every student strive to be the very best person they can be.
I want to take this opportunity to wish all our families a happy, healthy, and restful holiday.
