Positive Behaviour

At Mount Beauty Secondary College, we value students who demonstrate positive and productive relationships. Staff actively acknowledge and communicate with students who display positive behaviour. Students can strive for recognition by consistently demonstrating the values of Respect, Kindness, and Confidence.

School Day

A reminder to students and parents/guardians that the school day commences at 9:00am, with the warning music beginning at 8:55 am. It is important that all students arrive on time and attend period 1 for roll marking by 9:00 am.

The school day concludes at 3:20 pm. If a student needs to leave school grounds during the school day, they must have written permission from a parent/guardian, which must be communicated to the school office.

Energy Drinks

We have noticed an increase in students bringing energy drinks (Monster, Red Bull etc) to school. Energy drinks can negatively impact student behaviour and interactions with staff.

School Procedure for Energy Drinks:

  • Students found with energy drinks will be required to leave them at the office for collection at the end of the day. Parents/guardians will be notified (this includes Year 12 students returning from lunch passes).
  • If a student has already started consuming an energy drink, it will be removed and disposed of. Students are strongly encouraged to comply with this request to avoid further negative interactions.

Why Energy Drinks Are Not Allowed at School:

  1. A healthy diet supports student well-being and academic success.
  2. Energy drinks contain high levels of caffeine and sugar, which can negatively affect concentration and behaviour.

If anyone in our community wishes to discuss this, please contact the school office to arrange an appointment.

School Planners

This year, each student has been provided with a school planner to help them navigate the school community. Planners should be used for the following purposes:

  • Recording upcoming events – helps with early communication with teachers.
  • Out-of-class pass – students must have their planner signed by the supervising teacher if leaving class.
  • Parent notes – allows parents/guardians to communicate about uniform, PE/Sport, or other student matters.
  • Timetable reference – students should record their timetable for easy access.

Mobile Phones

A reminder to students and parents/guardians that Mount Beauty Secondary College follows the Department of Education's mobile phone policy. We ask for student cooperation in adhering to this policy to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.

Students may bring a mobile phone to school; however, it must be securely stored during school hours (warning music at 8:55 am – school bell at 3:20 pm).

Students who do not meet the expectations of this policy will receive support, and appropriate consequences will be enforced and communicated to their family.
