The colours of blue, green and red on Tuesday and house cries made it very obvious that the House Swimming Sports were on again! The enthusiasm, participation and team spirit of those present made up for the lower number of attendees. It was great to see so many students using the participation lane to get points for their house, even if swimming was not something they enjoy.
Thanks to all the family members that visited over the course of the day, to the staff for making the day happen, and to Jenny Farrington for organising the event.
The weather was great for our annual welcome BBQ, although a breeze would have been much appreciated! It was nice to spend the evening with some of our parents and the teachers. This evening provides the chance to informally get together, get to know faces and continue to build the important relationship that will help to support your child through their years at high school.
Through the course of getting some instruments serviced, we were lucky enough to be gifted a donation. Our instrument service and repair shop in Melbourne, The Music Place, has generously donated a much-needed clarinet to the music program.
Thankyou very much for thinking of us.
The last meeting of the current school council is being held next week. Tenures run for 2 years, so there will be 4 parent positions that become available after this meeting. Please consider if this is something that you might be interested in and could commit to. Eight meetings are held throughout the year, in Weeks 4 and 8 of each term. We currently meet at 6pm on Wednesdays, but once the new council is formed, we can determine if this still suits the members. Self nomination forms are attached with this newsletter and available from the office.
Nomination forms are due to the office by Thursday 27th February, 4.30pm.
I’d like to sincerely thank Jason Frede, Meredith Anderson and Rachel Fallon for the last 2 years they have been on council and for their contributions over that time. A special thank you to Bronwyn Gray, who has been on the council since 2019, and the President since 2021. Bronwyn has already indicated that with a change in circumstances, and a busy 2025 ahead, she will have to retire from her position as the President and from School Council.
Notice of School Council meeting
The last meeting for our current school councillors is on Wednesday 19th February, 6pm in Room 9. All school community members are welcome to come and observe the meeting.
Mid Term 1 Progress Reports will be made available on Compass on Friday the 21st of February. These reports are completed in Weeks 4 and 8 of each term and help to monitor the students’ learning habits in class. All students should be able to achieve working at a level of 3, the expected level. A copy of the Progress Reports matrix, which students are being assessed against will be attached to the Compass post when they are available.
