Student Wellbeing

Commitment to Child Safety at Park Orchards Primary School
At Park Orchards Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. In line with the Child Safety and Wellbeing Act, all Victorian schools must implement Child Safe Standards to protect students from harm. Our school is dedicated to upholding these standards, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all children.
We believe that every student deserves to feel safe, happy, and empowered. We support and respect all students, staff, and volunteers, fostering an inclusive and protective school community. We have a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse, and all allegations and concerns will be addressed seriously through our robust policies and procedures. Our commitment includes fulfilling our legal and moral responsibilities by reporting any concerns about a child’s safety to the appropriate authorities.
To prevent harm and reduce risks, we maintain strong recruitment and human resources practices for staff and volunteers. Regular training ensures that our team is well-equipped to identify and address child safety risks. Additionally, we are committed to:
Cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
Inclusion and protection of students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
Supporting students with disabilities and those in vulnerable circumstances
Our policies and procedures are continually reviewed and strengthened to ensure best practices in child safety. As these policies are approved by School Council, they will be shared via our newsletter and school website.
Everyone in our school community plays a role in keeping students safe. By working together, we can provide a secure and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.
