Hansen Scholarship 2025
Each year we recognise talented students from around Australia who have demonstrated resilience to adversity, and a commitment to supporting others.
The Hansen Scholarship Program was first introduced in 2020, and it offers talented students from around Australia a generous package of accommodation, financial support, mentoring and pastoral care. Valued at up to $108,000, the Hansen Scholarship Program aspires to nurture and significantly expand the horizons of Australian students who may otherwise struggle to access a high-quality university education.
Selection is based on:
- Track record of academic excellence and a commitment to academic success in university studies
- Demonstrated ability to achieve success in the face of adversity and overcome obstacles
- Demonstrated ability to apply skills and strengths towards activities which benefit others
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and lead those around you
Likelihood of thriving as a Hansen Scholar and actively contributing to the Hansen Scholarship Program
Benefits of the scholarship include:
- Free accommodation for a three-year undergraduate degree at Little Hall residence in Lincoln Square South
- An allowance to support your living expenses. In addition to your accommodation and living allowance, awardees will have access to a one-time grant of up to $4000 for an approved development activity such as an international exchange or internship
- Access to a mentoring program, pastoral care, and development programs available to all students at Little Hall as well as a tailored program of mentoring and support exclusively for Hansen Scholars
- Students who meet the requirements for the Melbourne Chancellor's Scholarship will receive the Melbourne Chancellor's Scholarship Guaranteed Commonwealth Supported Place in one of the professional master degrees for students who meet the prerequisite course and entry requirements for the master degree
Applications open on 3 February 2025, and close in March 2025.

Gallipoli Scholarship
Valued at $6,000, the Gallipoli Scholarship is open to the direct descendants of any service man or woman who has served in the Australian or New Zealand Defence Force in a conflict or peacekeeping operation, since the First World War to the present day.
The Scholarship selection process is based 60% on necessitous circumstances,
and 40% on academic merit.
Applications open on 1 January and close on 28 February each year. All applicants are notified of their selection, or otherwise, by the end of March each year. Applications are submitted online via the website and require a number of documents to support the application.

Australian National University (ANU) launched the Tuckwell Scholarship Program in 2013.

The Tuckwell Scholarship Program at the ANU is the most transformational undergraduate scholarship program in Australia. A Tuckwell is not just about a students’ intellect. It is also about their desire and determination to use their natural abilities to realise their full potential so that they can make a difference in the world. All up one could say, this is no ordinary scholarship.
Scholarships are awarded based on four criteria:
- Academic potential and achievements to date
- Other significant achievements to date, of any type
- Demonstration of the attributes of a Tuckwell Scholar
- A desire to eventually give back to Australia
