This Visual Art course invites students to explore and express ideas using a wide range of materials, techniques, and processes. Through both 2D and 3D art-making, students develop the skills to interpret artworks within broader cultural and historical contexts.
Each unit incorporates the use of an art journal where students record plans, influences, processes, and reflections. Students will also investigate contemporary and historical artists, linking their work to classroom practice.
Ā
Unit One ā Students create a personalised art journal and explore a range of drawing, painting, and collage techniques. The focus is on building foundational 2D skills and confidence in visual expression.
Ā
Unit Two ā Students engage in both 2D and 3D work. A strong emphasis is placed on design thinking through drawing as a planning and problem-solving tool. Students experiment with form and structure using various sculptural media.
Ā
Units Three and Four ā These units focus on developing individual voice and creative intention. Students refine skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, and digital media. Emphasis is placed on conceptual thinking, personal interpretation, and media experimentation.
Ā
Students wishing to study Art are encouraged to undertake all four units. However, it is also possible to enrol in single-semester units.Ā
