Dear parents and carers,

Recent Events

It's been a great couple of weeks at CHPS with camps, excursions, incursions, sporting events and a concert, and it's been wonderful seeing our students shine as they learn, grow, sing, perform and compete. We thank the teachers and education support staff for all the time, effort and heart that goes into the planning and the running of these events. During Book Week, all year levels participated in incursions conducted by different authors. Our Year 4 to 6 students participated in the CHPS athletics carnival. The Year 4 cohort has had a busy few weeks, attending camp and an excursion to Ceres. The Year 1 students enjoyed their Minibeast Excursion while our Year 3 students attended the Royal Botanical Gardens. Finally, our Year 5 students were the stars of the recent Senior Music Assembly.

Upcoming excursions include the Year 3 students attending camp and the Foundation students visiting Healesville Sanctuary.

Educational excursions and incursions are a great way to engage students in learning outside the classroom. They allow students to explore the world beyond their books, gain valuable knowledge and skills, and form memories that will last for a long time. Staff plan excursions and incursions for students to maximise their learning in academic and social situations, appropriate and relevant to the current topics studied and their stage of learning.

District Athletics

Last Thursday, a large team of 54 participants from Year 4, 5 & 6 represented CHPS, competing with students from our local sports district in what was ideal conditions at Coburg Athletics Track.  Bec, our PE teacher, was the main organiser of the day and her hours of organisation was evident with the smooth running of events and the enthusiasm of competitors from all schools. A big thank you to Bec. Students who were successful in their events will now compete in the Division Athletics Carnival.

Foundation Students 100 Days at School

Congratulations to our wonderful Foundation students, teachers and parents on reaching 100 days of school earlier this month. It was wonderful seeing our students celebrate this special milestone in their lives, and in their education! It is as much a celebration of the students as it is for their teachers and loved ones, and we hope that all families enjoyed marking this special occasion.

Wear it Purple

Wear It Purple Day is an annual event, held on the last Friday in August. This theme placed emphasis on the importance of personal expression and individuality for rainbow youth. Last Friday was a day on which our students came together to celebrate diversity and support young rainbow people in our community. Walking through the school at recess/lunch times and in classrooms during learning times, there was a sea of purple with a splash of other colours.

Cold and Flu Season

As we move into prime cold and flu season, we wish to remind families of the importance of prioritising your health and wellbeing. We ask parents to keep children home from school if they are unwell, and return to school when they are feeling healthy and well. Teachers are continuing to ensure that students are sanitising regularly, air purifiers are on in each room, and our cleaners are continuing to clean all spaces in the school thoroughly, and wipe down high touch surfaces.
