Learning Community 2

Maxine Howard and John Wigg

It's been another two great weeks of learning in 3/4.

We have looked at angles and mass in Maths. We made angles with icey pole sticks and compared and ordered. Check out the pictures below. We also made angles with masking table and practised using protractors to measure the exact degree of the angle.

We are learning about mass this week and making ships and experimenting with how much they can hold, inspired by our Integrated Studies topic of the First Fleet.

In Reading we have been learning about character traits, author's purpose and new vocabulary while reading the book 'Matilda'. We've talked out 'inside' and 'outside' traits of a character, why the author may have written the book and included certain events, as well as explored new descriptive language.

Finally in Writing, we finished off our Persuasive Writing recap with creating persuasive ads and brochures. We each made a poster or brochure about our fabulous school, and tried to include rhetorical questions, positive points and exaggeration, inclusive language and use of colour to persuade the reader.

3/4 X Achievers
