Focus on Learning

Stage 2 - Mrs Robyn Wilson

We have had a busy term and the time is flying by as it is already week 7. This week we have a teacher Mrs Cath Smyth starting her 4 week student practicum in our class. She will be with us to the end of term. Cath is already a teacher at Gunnedah at St Xavier's Primary School and we are looking forward to having her in our room. Please make her feel welcome.

English

We are about to embark on writing a persuasive text on whether animals should be kept in zoos. I have had a great time working with the students gathering information, data and stories on this topic. They are not allowed to sit on the fence they have to pick a side and I am eager to read their responses. The below photos show the groups that the students have divided into for this topic. Here they are planning their responses

.

As a part of this topic they were asked to investigate a zoo. See below some general research that they gathered on the "good" zoos all over the world.

Religion

In religion this term we are celebrating God's amazing creations. Here  you can see the students outside in the playground exploring and drawing some of these creations.

We are finalising our harvest of the winter vegetables, tending to some lettuce, herbs and flowers we planted recently, as well as busily preparing our soil for spring planting.  We hope to plant a variety of fruits and vegetables to help supply our school canteen.  Our plans are: strawberries, watermelon, rockmelon, lettuce, herbs, tomatoes, cucumbers, spinach and others!   A big THANK YOU to the students who remain committed to this initiative.  Be sure to scroll across to see all of the photos from this week.
