Book Week

Book Week

Schools across the nation recently celebrated Book Week and Lalor East was no different. For the first time in over 15 years we had a Book Week Parade where students came dressed as their favourite book character. There was lots of excitement amongst the students on the day with a diverse range of costumes being worn. Well done to all those Hogwarts students, Dr Suess characters, princesses along with many others. Students who came dressed up had their names go in the box to get a chance to win a book as a prize. In all 12 lucky students went home with a new book.

Congratulations to everyone who participated and won a prize.

Parliament Prize Grades 5/6

In term 2 as part of the writing program students in Grade 5/6 had the opportunity to research, write and record a presentation for the Annual Parliament Prize. The winners for this year were recently announced and Drum Roll Please! The children of Lalor East have won the Alicia Katz award (named after the first woman to run for the Parliament of Victoria) which recognises a school that has made an inspiring contribution to the Parliament Prize through their strong commitment to a diverse range of issues. The award is great recognition for our students' efforts in the area of writing and includes a monetary prize of $1000. The award was presented at Parliament House on Monday 11 September.
