STUDENT LED CONFERENCES
Student Led Conferences will be taking place in Week 9 for 2/3A and Week 10 for all other classes. Conferences take approximately 15 minutes only and will be held in your child's classroom. Students are expected to attend the appointment with you.
To make a booking visit https://www.schoolinterviews.com.au/code/pp7y7.
To make the most of your conferences, parents may wish to consider the following questions for their child:
Which piece of work are you most proud of?
What is your favourite activity?
What are your next goals?
Why are these goals important to you?
How will you know when you have achieved those goals?
What can we do to help you reach them?
SCHOOL STUDENT BROADBAND (SSBI)
SSBI - What is it?
SUPPORT YOUR CHILD’S EDUCATION WITH INTERNET AT HOME
The Australian Government has established the School Student Broadband Initiative (SSBI) to provide free home internet for one year for up to 30 000 families unconnected families with school aged students.
This is a targeted affordability measure to boost education opportunities and narrow the digital divide. More information about SSBI can be found at www.infrastructure.gov.au/SSBI.
Is it for me?
To be eligible, a family must:
Have a child living at home
That is enrolled in an Australian school in 2023.
Not have an active NBN internet service at home
Having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility.
Not have an active NBN internet service at home
Having a mobile internet service does not affect eligibility.
How do I nominate?
The Department of Education is a nominating organisation for SSBI. Families can nominate in many ways. Choose one that suits you below.
- Ask at your child’s school for a SSBI family nomination form.
- Access the SSBI family nomination form online at https://forms.office.com/r/sLSrGb74BP or scan the QR code with your phone’s camera and click on the link that appears.
- Request the SSBI family nomination form from digitalanddata.doe@education.nt.gov.au or by calling 8972 5344.
Nomination forms need to be returned to schools or completed online as soon as possible so that vouchers can be delivered and activated before 30 April 2024.
What’s next?
You will get a letter
Via your child’s school or by email. It will tell you if you are eligible for SSBI or not
If you are eligible
Choose an internet provider listed in your letter
Activate your voucher
Sign up with your preferred internet provider and give them your voucher code before 30 April 2024
The internet provider will have a step-by-step process to get you connected. You may need to provide identification.
The one-year internet connection will start from the day your service is activated. When the one year is finished, you will not be placed on a paid service without your consent.
EMERGENCY CONTACTS
We require each student to have at least one, preferably two, emergency contacts (this is in addition to parents). This is important if we are unable to get hold of you in an emergency situation.
We also ask that you make sure your child's doctor/medical clinic details are up to date including whether you have ambulance cover.
If at any time you need to update any details on your child's file, please contact us on 8950 0700 or email living.waters@ntschools.net.
2024 ENROLMENT
SPORT VOUCHER SCHEME
The Sport Voucher Scheme supports active Territory families with the cost of getting involved in sports, active recreation and cultural activities. Every child living in the NT, from Transition to Year 12, who is enrolled in an NT school or registered for home-schooling is eligible for the scheme. In urban areas, school-enrolled students can apply for a $100 Sport Voucher twice per year (January and July).
The objectives of the Scheme are to:
- increase participation of school-enrolled children in sport, active recreation and cultural activities
- support the delivery of the Department's focus on increasing activity in school-enrolled children living in the NT
- help change the physical activity behaviours of children in the NT
For more information please visit: https://grantsnt.nt.gov.au/grants/sport-voucher-scheme-semester-2-july-to-dec-2023.
ACTIVE BANDS
This semester Living Waters will be participating in the Weet-Bix Active Bands program again. It is a fun way for Aussie kids to keep active and be rewarded along the way. All new students have received their free Active Band this week. If your child needs a new band, please contact Reception at living.waters@ntschools.net and a replacement band will be sent home with your child.
Only 19% of Australian children aged 5 to 17 are completing at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day. We all lead such busy lives and sometimes it's hard to think of ideas to keep your child active and having fun. Weet-Bix Active Bands create a fun way for your kids to keep active and be rewarded.
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART
Jump Rope for Heart kicks off this term at Living Waters!
Jump Rope for Heart is the Heart Foundation’s primary school skipping challenge that helps kids move more, have fun and raise funds for lifesaving research and programs.
This year we’ve got an audacious goal to see our student Heart Heroes at Living Waters log 40 hours of skipping throughout the program! Register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started.
Students will be skipping throughout the term in PE lessons, during breaks and morning fitness. During this time, you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.
We will hold our school Jump Off Day on 12 September (Tuesday Week 9) which will mark the end of the program and is a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their newly learned skills.
Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!
LOST PROPERTY
Please check our lost property bin if your child is missing anything. We have quite a few items of clothing, as well as lunch box supplies and water bottles. All items left unclaimed at the end of this month will be donated or binned.
SCHOOL SAFETY
Please remember to use the designated school crossing walk when walking to and from school each day. We have had a number of complaints about families crossing the street in areas other than the designated area. Please look for the big red stop sign and be sure to cross there!
MEDICINE REMINDER
Please be aware that students are not allowed to bring prescription and/or pain medication from home to self-administer. If your child requires prescription medication, you must bring it into reception and fill out the appropriate paperwork. It will be kept in our first aid room for your child. We cannot administer Panadol or any other pain relievers to your child without a note from your doctor. Thank you for your cooperation.
CANTEEN
Please remember that all canteen orders require a bag. Separate bags are needed for first and second break. You can purchase paper or reusable bags through the School24 app when ordering - please check the 'bags' section of the menu. Students are also welcome to use a lunch bag purchased from elsewhere or brought from home - make sure to clearly label it though.
Narelle in the canteen is looking for volunteers to help out, particularly from 8.30-10.30am and 12.00-1.00pm, but any time you can give would be much appreciated. To register your interest please email Narelle at lwls.canteen@ntschools.net.
Our School ID for School24 ordering is 2513 7963.
