School Council

School Council Message

School Council met via Zoom on Tuesday 29 August. It was a great opportunity to receive important updates from the school and to hear from our hardworking Council subcommittees.

Marcus Wicher and Rhian ap Rees presented an update on ASPS’s numeracy curriculum. Particular focus in this space in 2023 has been informed by the work of numeracy expert, Emeritus Professor Peter Sullivan, whose model centres on using research informed strategies to engage and challenge students of all abilities.

Teaching staff have received professional learning from Peter Sullivan and continue to be supported in their implementation of numeracy curriculum through further training and peer coaching sessions.

ASPS will be hosting Peter Sullivan for a parent information evening in October. This will provide a terrific opportunity to witness a range of numeracy strategies in action.

Plans for the redevelopment of the Tooronga Road facing gardens and paved areas are currently being reviewed and finalised. Once completed, these spaces will provide an inviting area to welcome visitors and  for our students to learn and play.
