Week 4 has crept up on us like a librarian. It seems like the term will be over before we know it! The Year 7 - 9 year levels have been a bit light on over the past couple of weeks so classes have been a little more empty then we are used to.

We have a number of important dates coming up so make sure to put them in your calendar!

NCD athletics is this Friday and we have a number of students who will hop, skip, and jump their way down to Charlton Park to compete. There will be a Canteen on site for all students, the items that will be being sold can be seen down below.

Good luck to all the students competing, do Charlton College proud!

There is a Pupil Free Day next Tuesday so students do not need to be at school. With all the illness going around this extra day of rest has come at the perfect time.

Year 8 Trade Center Orientation is on next Friday. The year 8 students will get a taste of what they could be doing next year on their trade day. On this day students do not have to wear their school uniform although students will be not be participating in activities which are particularly dirty, so full uniform is viable. If students are not wearing uniform, they are asked to wear clothing that is acceptable for an educational setting.

All students MUST wear sturdy, covered shoes- preferably work boots etc if they have them.

Students need to bring their own lunch and snacks.

The day does not align with the regular Charlton College/NCTTC timetable so there is no canteen access at recess. Students will have access to the canteen (cash only) towards the end of lunch for drinks and snacks, but cannot place a lunch order.

And last but not least is Book week! Book week is next week and with that comes our yearly Book week dress up day next Friday so start getting your book related costumes ready.

What's been happening in Year 7?

This term in Science, the Year 7s are learning about forces. Last week, they conducted an experiment to investigate what happens to people during car collisions when no safety equipment is used. They rolled a cart down a ramp with a plasticine crash-test dummy. During a head-on collision, the Year 7s observed the crash-test dummy somersault into the wall in a violent manner. When hit from the rear, they noticed the dummy move backwards, relative to the cart. The Year 7s gained an appreciation for all the safety equipment that keeps them same when travelling in a car.   

In Maths They have been studying circles and investigating π (Pi)
