What's been happening in Year 3/4:

3/4's have had an interesting week! We were learning how to tint and shade colours during our Art lesson, how to use repeats when writing code to make it more efficient and the different topographical and natural features of South America. In Numeracy, we have been learning different strategies to complete multiplication equations including the area model, lattice and written algorithms. We have gotten into a great routine practising a different maths fluency skill, doing a mixed times table grid this week. In Literacy, we have been learning the different Greek combined forms of bi, tri, cycle and cyclone and the suffixes ic and ist. We are busily practising joining our letters to improve our handwriting and looking at different ‘tools’ we can use to construct discussion texts- including showing different opinions on a topic and not writing with bias.

Calder Athletics

The annual Calder Athletics Carnival will be held tomorrow, Thursday 14th August, at Charlton Park. Students will arrive at school as usual and then travel by bus or on foot. As there will be no canteen service on the day, we ask that students bring a packed lunch and drink bottle. Students are required to wear school uniform and dress warmly, as there will be some downtime and weather conditions may vary. Events will conclude before 3:15pm, with students returning to school for normal dismissal and bus travel. If you plan to collect your child directly from Charlton Park, please inform the College in advance. We encourage families and friends to attend and support the students throughout the day.
