Ryan’s Rambling

Dear Families,

After such a fantastic weekend weather-wise, we are back to the bitter cold in the latter part of the week. In saying that, I have noticed small buds sprouting on the roses at home, along with the first wattle blooms; perhaps signalling that spring is on its way soon.

This morning at Assembly, Assembly 1/2s shared some amazing Inquiry learning from their experiences at Ye Olde School Day, and from their recent excursion to Sovereign Hill. Grace, Ted, Stella, Stevie, Teddy and Celeste all spoke confidently at Assembly, reflecting on the positive and fun time they have had learning about Australian History. Well done, kids!

At Buddies and Mates this morning, our students spent time together reflecting on the way we regard each other.  Themes of kindness, politeness and thanking each other were reflected on by our students. Even the simple act of holding the door open for someone can change their day for the better.  As life gets infinitely more busy, we can often overlook these simple, yet important things.

Our School Production is now less that two weeks away! As we get closer, it’s great to see our acts and dances coming together. Many of our families have been very supportive with prop making, sewing and a few other odd jobs. Thank you so much to these people for helping out! There are still a few tickets left, so please invite family to attend, if they are able to. We are looking forward to an amazing night with our community.

Attached to this newsletter is some information about a community mural project, which we are incredibly excited about.  Our students voted on this project last term. Obviously, it is quite a significant task to capture the ideas of an entire community and have them represented through artwork; however, we feel that the two questions mentioned in this newsletter will aid as a support to designing the mural. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at school.

Next week, we celebrate Children’s Book Week; one of the best weeks of the year! On Monday morning, we will host our annual whole school read-in. Our whole school will come together for 10-15 minutes, to read together. Parents are more than welcome to attend, just remember that young children often read aloud, so it won’t be a very quiet session. We will also have a book-exchange for parents on Friday morning. Bring along one novel that you are willing to part with and take another home. Please don’t bring in a whole heap of books, as we will be inundated with them. This is about recycling and sharing. We hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Have a fantastic weekend.

Ryan 😊
