YEAR 8
Building Strong Connections
YEAR 8
Building Strong Connections
Head of Year 8
A reminder that our Year 8 Formation Day will take place this Thursday, 28 August. Formation Days are a compulsory part of the school year, providing valuable opportunities for students to engage with their faith, connect with their peers, and reflect on the values of the St Mary’s community.
The day will begin with Pastoral Group before travelling by bus to Our Lady Help of Christians, Earlville, for Mass. Students will return to the College for a series of formation sessions and activities in the Hugh O’Brien Centre and outdoors. The program will conclude at 1:30 pm.
Students are required to wear their House Uniform for the day. They should also bring:
Sunscreen of choice (additional sunscreen will be available)
We look forward to this special opportunity for our Year 8 students to deepen their understanding of Mary’s strength and dignity, build connections with one another, and live out the values of dignity, empathy, dialogue, community, and perseverance.
As we approach the assessment period, students need to stay organised, manage their time effectively, and maintain healthy routines such as rest, exercise, and downtime. Parents can support by checking in on due dates and encouraging regular study habits. The Year 8 Assessment Calendar provides an overview of upcoming tasks.
Have you ever thought about being more involved in the life of our College? We’re currently inviting expressions of interest from parents and carers who’d like to join our College Board in 2026. It’s a great way to contribute your ideas, support our students and staff, and help shape our school’s direction. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you!
Please feel free to get in touch smw.principal@cns.catholic.edu.au for more information or to submit your expression of interest by Friday, 12 September.
