Frankston Council Youth Summit

On Tuesday 12th of August, a group of student leaders had the privilege of attending the Frankston Council Youth Summit, an inspiring initiative hosted by Frankston Youth Services at Functions by the Bay. The event brought together students from schools right across the Frankston area, creating a space for collaboration, connection, and the sharing of ideas.

The day began with guest speaker Matt LaFontaine, who shared his incredible personal journey and his work with SafeSpace. His story encouraged students to reflect on the importance of resilience, community support, and creating safe environments for young people.

Throughout the summit, attendees participated in open discussions and workshops focused on the challenges facing young people today — from mental health and education to the environment, equality, and community safety. These conversations weren’t just about identifying problems; they were about developing practical, achievable solutions that could make a real difference across a range of communities.

Student leaders returned from the event inspired and motivated, eager to share their learnings and explore how these ideas can be implemented within our own school and local community. Opportunities like the Youth Summit highlight the power of youth voices and the positive change they can create when they work together.
