Living Our HARK Values Together
Our HARK values Humility, Aspiration, Respect and Kindness are not only upheld at school but are strengthened when supported at home.
Families play a key role in helping children understand and practise these values daily. One simple way is through supporting uniform expectations. Wearing the correct uniform with pride reflects Respect for ourselves, our school, and our shared environment. It also models Aspiration, the idea that we strive to be our best in all that we do.
Supporting your child to take responsibility packing their own bag, remembering their belongings, or seeking help when needed fosters Humility and confidence. It helps develop independence and a sense of personal accountability, both of which are essential for learning and growing well.
Sometimes children will face challenges at school. When this happens, allowing staff to work directly with your child helps us support them through Respectful and Kind problem-solving. These moments are important for learning how to repair relationships, take responsibility, and show empathy.
We thank our families for walking alongside us in growing young people who not only learn well but live well. By upholding clear expectations together and keeping the HARK values at the centre of our conversations, we create a consistent, supportive experience for our students.
Let’s continue to work together and home nurturing children who show Humility, Aspiration, Respect, and Kindness every day.

Student Leadership Shining Bright in the Junior School
At Oakleigh Grammar, leadership is not reserved for the future, it lives and breathes in our students every day. Across the Junior School, we see authentic leadership skills flourishing as students take active roles in driving key school events such as Athletics Day, Open Mornings and Junior School Assemblies.
The confidence our students display when welcoming visitors, speaking on the microphone, running events and leading their peers is a true testament to the strong relationships shared between staff and students. Built on a foundation of trust and mutual respect, these partnerships provide a safe, empowering environment where students feel supported to step up, use their voice and lead with purpose.
Leadership at Oakleigh Grammar is more than holding a badge, it is about stepping forward with integrity, having the courage to share personal goals and growth areas publicly, and encouraging others to do the same. It is inspiring to see students celebrate each other’s successes and cheer one another on, creating a culture where striving for excellence is not only valued but championed by peers.
From the pride shown by Athletics Day announcers, to the confident tour guides welcoming prospective families, to the thoughtful reflection and humour showcased during assembly presentations - our Junior School students demonstrate leadership that is meaningful, inclusive and deeply embedded. These rich experiences are crafted through deliberate opportunities and nurturing staff guidance, equipping our young people with lifelong skills in communication, responsibility and compassion.
We are incredibly proud of our student leaders, not just for what they do, but for the way they empower others to shine alongside them.
