Ahoy! Pirates! Set to Sail at Oakleigh Grammar

We are so excited for our upcoming performance of Pirates! It has been an amazing journey, where our students have grown in character and resilience as they embraced the Round Square IDEALS of leadership and service, sacrificing their lunch breaks and after-school time to rehearse their roles with dedication.

Throughout this process, performance skills have flourished, and students have built confidence, courage, and a true sense of teamwork. The production promises to be a vibrant celebration of theatre, bringing together diverse and engaging characters, lively songs, and energetic dances.

Congratulations to the cast of Pirates! and to all those who have worked behind the scenes to make this show possible. This production is a shining reminder of the power of the performing arts: give a student the stage, and they will take the lead!

Tickets are still on sale, don’t miss your chance to support our students and join us on this exciting adventure!

Clay Incursion with Ceramic Artist Diana Bafi

This term, Year 4 students have been enjoying a two-session clay incursion led by ceramic artist Diana Bafi, an expert in the traditional pinch pot technique. Under her guidance, students created imaginative animal sculptures, learning the “score and slip” method for secure attachments.

Ms Bafi also explained the kiln firing process, from bisque firing to glazing, and how these techniques transform clay into durable, colourful artworks. The incursion enriched students’ creativity, fine motor skills, and artistic knowledge, leaving them inspired and proud of their unique creations.

The benefits extended well beyond the art room. This hands-on learning nurtured patience, problem-solving, and dexterity. Students gained insight into an ancient craft, experienced professional-quality techniques, and will finish the sessions with a tangible artwork they can treasure.

This clay incursion is more than just two lessons - it is an opportunity to expand creative horizons, connect with an expert, and discover the joy of transforming raw clay into a personal masterpiece.
