Principal's News

Dear Parents
This term has accentuated the spirit of collaboration, creativity and competition across our School. The diverse range of extra curricular clubs has grown exponentially which provides students with unique opportunities to explore their interests, develop skills, and engage with peers. Already this term our students from ELC - Year 12 have engaged in athletics or cross country, our Year 4 students have enjoyed time away on Camp and our Middle and Senior students have been engaged in interschool debating and are now turning their attention to interhouse debating.
Additionally, we have been celebrating Science Week, and we have the following to look forward to - Book Week, our Middle School students will be engaged in their Community Projects, and next week we have the Middle School Production of Pirates under the expert direction of Mrs Rebecca Bettiol and I encourage you to get your tickets if you haven’t already done so. It promises to be an exciting production.
There is an air of excitement reverberating around our School as every student from ELC to Year 12 will have an opportunity to decorate a tile which will become part of a collective mural which will be displayed in the inner courtyard. I have been impressed with the creativity and the imaginations of the students as they put pen to tile and create their own everlasting masterpieces. I acknowledge Mrs Helena Scarlata who has been the architect of this project and will ensure that the Year 2025 will be one to be remembered.
In modern day society, the risks and dangers of digital technology for children and teens has been widely acknowledged in our media and parents and schools grapple with this issue. I draw your attention to a recent article that appeared in TES magazine that addresses the concerns that many parents have about the risks and dangers of digital technology for children and teens.
The article acknowledges that phones and other devices are an unavoidable part of life now, and that a significant amount of that life takes place online.
Please click on the link to view the article which provides some ideas to help ensure your children stay safe and that their interactions in the digital world are positive, and used safely, wisely and in as healthy a manner as possible.
Our Business Breakfast which is being held on Thursday 4 September, is a sellout partly due to the quality of the guest speakers Mr Ross Lyon, the charismatic coach of St Kilda Football Club Coach and former Chief Prosecutor and KC Mr Nick Papas. I thank all of you who have purchased tickets for your support of this important fund raising initiative. My appreciation is extended to Mr Vic Rajah, our Business Network Convenor and parent for all of his hard work in ensuring the event is a success.
