Supporting Your Child's Well-being Through Literature

One of the powerful ways you can support your child's well-being is through themed picture books that spark important conversations, build empathy, and help them navigate their emotions.

 Foundation – Year 2:

Books like 'The Colour Monster' by Anna Llenas and 'In My Heart' by Jo Witek help younger students identify and express their feelings. Titles such as "The Most Magnificent Thing" and "The Koala Who Could" can encourage resilience, self-belief, and trying new things.

Years 3 – 6:

Older students should explore more complex ideas through books such as "After the

Fall" by Dan Santat (about overcoming fear), "Ruby Finds a Worry" by Tom Percival (dealing with anxiety), and "The Invisible Boy" by Trudy Ludwig (highlighting the importance of inclusion and kindness).

Want to support wellbeing at home? Ask your child which book they’ve read recently and what they learned from it!

Why not enjoy one of these books together at home?
