Berwick Basketball Academy Recent Highlights
It’s been another massive year for the Berwick College Basketball Academy, with our students once again flying the flag proudly across the VSSC, SSV and Champions Cup tournaments. The commitment and energy from all our squads this year have been unreal, from early morning trainings to long road trips and everything in between. Our Intermediate Boys continued their dominance by defending their Basketball Victoria Champions Cup title, defeating Maribyrnong Sports Academy in the final, while our Senior Boys battled hard and finished runners-up against Rowville Sports Academy. Both groups showed class, discipline and the kind of team-first mentality that defines our program.
At the SSV and VSSC levels, our depth and development really stood out, with strong performances across every year level. A special mention to our Year 8 Boys and Girls, along with our Intermediate Boys, who have all progressed through to the SSV State Finals being held in early November. Our year 7 students are currently competing in the regional finals and are pushing hard to secure a place in the upcoming state final at the time of this article. An outstanding effort from these young groups who continue to grow with every session.
Beyond the wins and results, what’s been most pleasing is the growth of our athletes as people. They’ve learned to compete with pride, represent the school with respect, and support each other through every challenge.
A massive thank you to all our parents, staff and coaching group for the time and energy you put in to help these students chase their goals. The culture being built within the Academy is something special, and as we now turn our focus to the Australian Schools Championships on the Gold Coast, Berwick Basketball is ready to go again.
