                        World Mission Day

Last Sunday, October 19th, was World Mission Sunday.

In essence, World Mission Sunday is a global day of prayer and support for the missionary work of the Catholic Church. It’s a time when we, as a parish community, are invited to reflect on the vital mission entrusted to us by Christ: to share the Good News of God’s love with all people, everywhere.

Why is it important?

The Church’s mission doesn’t stop at our parish doors. Across the globe, dedicated priests, religious sisters and brothers, deacons, and lay missionaries are working tirelessly in diverse and often challenging circumstances. They bring Christ’s healing, hope, and comfort to communities in need, build schools and hospitals, and share the Gospel message with those who may never have heard it before.

World Mission Sunday provides a concrete way for us to participate in this mission. Through our prayers and our generous offerings, we help sustain and empower these courageous individuals and the vital work they undertake. It’s a powerful reminder that we are part of a global family, united in faith and called to serve one another.
