Mother's Day Morning Tea

Our Mother’s Day morning tea was a wonderful celebration filled with smiles, laughter, and special moments. The children loved welcoming their mums and special visitors into the classroom to share morning tea, sing songs, play together, and spend quality time with one another.

One of the highlights of the morning was the children styling their mum’s hair and painting nails, which brought lots of excitement and joy. A big thank you to all the mums and special visitors who joined us and helped make the morning so memorable for the children.

Henny Penny Chick Hatching Program

The children were fascinated watching the baby chicks hatch from their eggs and enjoyed caring for and observing them over the past two weeks. There was so much excitement each day as the children checked on the chicks and noticed the changes as they grew!

They observed how the chicks’ feathers began to change, their wings and feet growing larger, and their colours developing over time. It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience that encouraged curiosity, care, and thoughtful observation.

Our classroom was filled with collaboration and scientific inquiry as the children worked together to make homemade playdough. This hands-on experience provided an opportunity for the children to develop skills across several key learning areas.

The children took a role in measuring ingredients, including flour, salt, cream of tartar, oil, and water. These activities help children develop an understanding of measurement and mathematical concepts in a real-world context. Through observing how these separate ingredients combined to form a new substance, the children engaged in inquiry and experimentation, harnessing their own learning through the use of natural and processed materials.

A focus of the activity was teamwork and social responsibility. The children practised sharing and waiting for a turn as they tipped ingredients into the bowl and stirred the mixture. The processes of stirring and kneading dough were great for the children's physical learning and wellbeing too.
