Our Primary School Easter Reflections and Secondary School Holy Week Liturgy provided students and staff with important opportunities for reflection, renewal and spiritual growth in anticipation of the upcoming celebration of Easter.

During the week, our Year 12 students also participated in their Manresa Retreat; a special time to pause and reflect. It may not have been as long and arduous as St Ignatius’ eleven months in Spain’s Manresa, (even though the recent rains made the commando course look pretty tough to me), nonetheless, after their own Manresa experience, our Year 12 students often speak about the transformative impact it has on them individually and as a year group, and we look forward to hearing about their experiences on their return to campus.

Our students would be unable to benefit from these types of formative opportunities without the generosity of our staff of course and it is with that in mind that I extend my thanks to all group leaders for volunteering their time and in particular acknowledge the hard work and careful planning  Deputy Principal Faith and Mission, Janeen Murphy, and Assistant Deputy Principal – Year 12, Luke Bostelman, undertook to ensure the Retreat’s success. One of the signs of a strong Year 12 group is often their own acknowledgment of the same and I am pleased to report I witnessed ample evidence of this during my visit.

As we approach Easter Sunday, then, we too are invited to pause and reflect on the blessings that grace our lives in the hope that the Easter message of renewal will inspire us to live with even greater compassion and kindness. I hope you are afforded the opportunity to spend some precious time with family and friends during the holiday break and I look forward to everyone’s return in Term 2.
