ANZAC DAY :

This Saturday, the 25th April, we celebrate ANZAC Day.

ANZAC Day is the anniversary of the day when Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed on Gallipoli in 1915 as part of the Allies' invasion. The Anzacs landed on Gallipoli and met fierce resistance. Their plan to knock Turkey out of the war quickly became a stalemate and the campaign dragged on for eight months.

At the end of 1915, the allied forces were evacuated. Both sides suffered heavy casualties and endured great hardships. Over 8,000 Australian soldiers were killed. ANZAC Day is a time for all Australians to recognise the more than 1.5 million service men and women who have served our country in all conflicts, wars and peacekeeping operations. It's also a time to remember the over 103,000 Australians who sacrificed their lives in our country's name.

Today we speak of an ‘ANZAC tradition’, meaning the ideals of courage, endurance and mateship that are still relevant to this day. In honour of the ANZACs and all who have served our country, each year a march is held in almost every town across Australia.

KTHS participates in the march at Kerang and we want to see you there.

Meet at the clock tower at 9:45am this Saturday (wearing your uniform) and join us in commemorating the ANZACs in the march and at the wreath laying ceremony.

Our ANZACs displayed resilience and responsibility and this is our opportunity to show them respect – our values – all coming together in this day of remembrance.

Lest We Forget.
