School Holiday Wellbeing: Fun Ways to Recharge and Stay Healthy

As we head into the school holidays, it’s the perfect time for our students and families to slow down, recharge, and focus on wellbeing. After a busy term of learning, fun activities can make a big difference to children’s physical and emotional health.

Here are some simple and enjoyable wellbeing ideas families can try over the break:

🌿 Get Outdoors and ExploreTake advantage of the beautiful parks and walking tracks around our local Croydon area. Whether it’s a family walk, bike ride, or picnic, spending time in nature helps reduce stress and boost mood. Encourage children to notice what they can see, hear, and feel—this is a great way to practise mindfulness.

🎨 Get CreativeCreative activities are a fantastic way for children to express themselves. Drawing, painting, building, cooking, or crafting can help children relax and feel proud of what they create. Why not set up a “creative corner” at home for holiday projects?

📚 Enjoy Quiet TimeThe holidays are a wonderful opportunity to develop a love of reading. Visit your local library or create a cosy reading space at home. Even 10–15 minutes of reading a day can help children unwind and build positive habits.

🤝 Stay ConnectedSpending time with family and friends is important for wellbeing. Play board games, cook together, or simply have a chat about the day. Encouraging open conversations helps children feel safe, supported, and heard.

🧘 Relax and RechargeHelp children learn to relax by practising simple breathing exercises or quiet time. Activities like listening to calming music, stretching, or even guided relaxation can help children manage big emotions and return to school feeling refreshed.

⚽ Keep MovingPhysical activity doesn’t have to be structured—playing in the backyard, kicking a ball, dancing, or going to the playground all count! Regular movement supports both physical health and emotional wellbeing.

💛 Be Kind to Yourself and OthersThe holidays are also a great time to practise kindness. Encourage children to help around the house, write a note to a friend, or do something thoughtful for someone else. Small acts of kindness can make a big impact.

We hope all our families enjoy a safe, relaxing, and joyful school holiday break. We look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning!
