WORLD OF MATHS WORKSHOPS - YEARS 3-6 

Students in Years 3-6 thoroughly enjoyed solving the hands-on Maths challenges presented by World of Maths on Monday 24 June. 

TERM 2 EXCURSIONS

Year 3 & Year 4 History Excursion to The Rocks 

Years 3 and 4 went on an adventure to The Rocks on Thursday 23 May. The students explored the traditional language, foods and customs of the Gadigal people. They also dug for artefacts from the first fleet. 

 

Year 1 Vaucluse House Excursion

On the 6th of June, Year 1 went on an excursion to Vaucluse House. The students learnt about what life may have been like in the past. They explored the servants quarters and performed some of the jobs the servants would have done in their day to day life. They played garden games such as Croquet and Skittles and explored the main part of the house. 

 

Year 2 Australian Museum Excursion

On Thursday 20 June, Year 2 had an unforgettable excursion to the dinosaur exhibition at the Australian Museum. The students were captivated by the life-sized dinosaur skeletons and interactive displays, sparking their curiosity and imagination. The year 2 students enjoyed a delightful lunch and playtime in Hyde Park before returning back to school.

 

Year 6 Kokoda Track Excursion

Year 6 students visited the Kokoda Trail Memorial Walkway on Thursday 20 June. They learned about the bravery of Australian troops who served in the Papua New Guinea and Kokoda Track Campaigns of July 1942 - January 1943. We would like to thank the Maroubra RSL Sub Branch for a great day out.

 

Year 6 Parliament House Excursion

On Tuesday 25 June, Year 6 students visited the Legislative Assembly and Council Houses at NSW Parliament House. The students had the opportunity to explore and participate in the process of passing a bill into a law.

ICAS Assessments - Term 3

Students in Years 2-6 have the opportunity to showcase and celebrate their talents in the world-renowned ICAS competition this year. Students will be completing these tests in Term 3 during Weeks 3-6.

  

What is ICAS?  

ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee, and Digital Technologies.

  

Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year. Top performers are eligible for one of the highly coveted ICAS medals.

How to participate in ICAS  

If you wish for your child to participate in ICAS this year, please follow the instructions in the image below to order and pay for your child’s ICAS tests online.

 

  1. To enter your child, visit https://shop.icasassessments.com/pages/pps
  2. Enter the school’s unique access code: EXN492
  3. Add your child’s details.
  4. Choose the assessments you wish for your child to participate in and make a direct payment. 
  5. You will receive a confirmation email.
  6. All assessments will be conducted online, at school. You will be notified of the dates that the ICAS assessments will be completed and when the results are ready.
