Hello, from Carolyn.

Respect, responsibility and kindness

Hello everyone,

Our Parents & Friends group recently held their AGM and I would like to congratulate the following office bearers-

President - Jo Fifer

Secretary - Sal Taberner

Treasurer - Lisa Broadbear.

My heartfelt thanks to  Jo, Sal and Lisa for once again taking on the responsibility of leading our P&F group, and to all our P&F members for the work they are doing in our school.

Our P&F group is important in our school community as it not only builds connections between our families, it supports our school with fundraising and supports our students by working with them to run events, such as the school disco.

Our Parents & Friends group can be successful when we all find ways to support them, in any way we can. If you haven't made a connection with our P&F group, please reach out to them and let them know how you can support them.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support.

Minor or major behaviour?

Next term, we will be defining which behaviours are ‘minor’ behaviours (managed by classroom/subject teachers, or ‘major’ behaviours (managed by leadership). You can help us with this work by completing this short survey. Staff and students will also be completing the survey. Here is the link-

Developing images/symbols for our school values.

We would also like your help, students/ parents/carers and staff, in developing images/symbols for each of our school values- Respect, Responsibility, Kindness.

Having images/symbols/characters for each of our values will help us all to connect with the values, especially those of us who are more likely to remember information when it is presented visually or when there is a visual link to the information.

In thinking about how we might represent our values, you might like to consider colours that could be attached to our values, or animals that live locally. If you identify as Koorie, or have connections with local Djarra elders, you might be able to find out if there are Dja Dja Wurrung words we can use for each of our values.

Put your thinking caps on! I am looking forward to receiving your ideas by the end of the first week back, Friday 19 July.

Staff who will be enjoying some leave soon.

We have some staff members who will be enjoying some leave soon, lucky them!

*Kim Kirkpatrick will be on leave from Monday 24 June until Friday 19 July.

*Sara Hill will be on leave next week.

*Di Kennedy will also be enjoying some well-earned long service leave from 15 July until Friday 26 July. While Ms. Kennedy is away, Mr. Seb Smith will be teaching grade 3/4K.

*Jason Bentley is taking leave at the start of next term so he and his partner can finally enjoy their honeymoon. Jason will be on leave from Monday 15 July until Friday 9 August. While Jason is on leave, Lynda McCarten will teach Grade 3/4B.

*Lauren Hussey-Makepeace will be on leave from Monday 15 July until Friday 26 July.

And in case you are wondering, yes, there will still be plenty of us at school!!

The Smile Squad free school dental program is coming to our school

The Smile Squad team from Bendigo Health are coming to our school soon.

Smile Squad is the Victorian Government free school dental program.

This means ALL students can get a free dental check-up, preventive services, and treatment at school.

We need your consent before we can provide services. Consent is usually provided by a parent or guardian.

Paper copies of the consent form are available. Please contact the school office if you would like to request one.

The electronic consent form can be translated into more than 100 languages, and the paper form is currently available in 13 languages.

Smile Squad oral health packs

All children deserve a healthy smile, and the Smile Squad free school dental program is working hard to help make sure this happens.

Your child(ren) will soon receive a free oral health pack to bring home. The pack contains a toothbrush, full sized toothpaste, and an oral health brochure. Please take the time to read the brochure. It’s full of helpful hints and tips to help your whole family eat well, drink well and clean well – for life.

Standard strength toothpaste

Smile Squad provides standard strength fluoride toothpaste that is generally used by ages six and over, unless recommended by a dental or trained health professional.

If your child is under six, please talk to a dental or trained health professional to find out if your child might benefit from using this toothpaste. You can also choose to put the toothpaste away until they turn six or give it to someone else in your family to use.

Do I need to attend my child’s appointment?

No, you do not need to attend your child’s appointment. You can attend if you would like to, and you can take your child to the community dental clinic if you prefer.

Term 3 starts on Monday15 July.
