Year 6 District Basketball Round Robin

On Wednesday 19th June, some of our Year 6 students participated in the Kooying District Basketball Round Robin. Our boys’ team played Bialik, Camberwell and Deepdene. They played really well and had 3 very close matches. Unfortunately, they did not win any of their games. However, they showed excellent teamwork and gave their best effort throughout the day, representing our school with pride. Our girls’ team played Bialik, Camberwell and Balwyn. Whilst they lost the games against Bialik and Camberwell, they had a great win against Balwyn. Again, they represented the school very well and showed excellent teamwork skills and effort throughout the day. It was a wonderful experience for our students.

Cross-Country

On the 13th of June, Charlie Hughes and William Hughes made it all the way through to the Eastern Metropolitan Region Championships at the Yarra Glen Racecourse.  This is a very competitive event with many high quality athletes participating.  We were lucky with the weather with the rain holding off, though it was still quite chilly and a true cross-country event with it being quite muddy to run in. Both boys should be proud of their efforts and represented Chatham Primary School in an exemplary fashion. Charlie and William reported that they ran well and tried their best, Charlie came 16th out of 92 participants and William came 39th out of 86 participants.

Years 3/4 Jumping into Measurement and Data Collection

We have had a fabulous time in Years 3 and 4 measuring our jumps and collecting data. For this activity, the students measured three different types of jumps and recorded the data in a table. The jumps were measured in centimetres and metres using rulers and tape measures. All the students wrote the measurements down and compared each type of jump. The results from each class were recorded and displayed in graphs.

It was so much fun!
