SSV Clay Shooting

The clay shooting season began for the Marist-Sion team on Monday June 17 at the Sale Field and Game Interschool Competition. Marist-Sion College fielded a team of five, as many of our senior boys were out on work experience. The two available seniors, Cohen Dent and John Huggins, led the three new juniors: Cooper Bills, Hunter McWhinney, and Finn McConachy. Despite a few nerves, the junior boys acquitted themselves well on the day.

The standout performer was John Huggins, who shot accurately at all traps, scoring 17 out of 20—just two points shy of the senior winner’s score of 19. All the boys benefited from participating in this event.

Our next competition will be on August 6 at Frankston, and we hope to field two teams of five. In preparation for this event, a practice shoot is planned for July 17 at Morwell to further hone our skills.

If you have a current junior shooting license, a shotgun, and most importantly, a responsible attitude, please contact Mr. Keogh, Mrs. Mills, or Mr. Hendrikse if you want to become part of the Marist-Sion Shooting Team.
