Our Semester One reports will go live on Compass on Wednesday 26th June, Week 11. They are a wonderful opportunity to discover and celebrate all of the learning your child has done so far this year. Over the last 12 months, staff have worked to revise our report format to ensure that they give clear feedback on student progress against the achievement standards. I have included an example of the new report format below. The Semester Overview is designed to give an indication of the concepts and topics that were covered over the semester. Whilst all students would have been introduced to these concepts, they then worked on them at an appropriate level to meet their individual learning goals. This is reflected in the box next to the overview which details what the student has achieved. These dot point statements are taken from the achievement standards in each area of the curriculum, and this is what determines the progression point that each student is marked at.

Another change you will notice is to the Maths section of the report. As we flagged earlier this term, the VCAA has introduced a new Maths curriculum called Maths 2.0. This is the first year that Mitcham PS has taught and will report against this curriculum, following extensive staff training in 2023. One major change is that instead of progression being marked against 3 areas in Mathematics (Number & Algebra, Measurement & Geometry, Statistics & Probability), there is now only one dot point that shows achievement in Maths. This means that for this report, no progress will be able to be shown from the Semester 2 2023 report. This will be evident though in the Semester 2 report for this year.

If you have any questions about the new report format or Maths 2.0, please contact the school office.
