Year 3 News

From Sally, Year 3 teacher

Our focus for Open Classroom's was on STEM learning.

Tangrams

We chose to utilise Tangrams as a way to demonstrate the student’s understanding of spatial reasoning as well as a variety of geometric concepts and relationships. The students had the option of either working with a peer or parent to build a variety of shapes with the Tangrams, such as a boat, a giraffe and cat among others. Once having experimented with this, they were then able to design a tshirt using the shapes, providing either side remained symmetrical.

Both the students and parents enjoyed this activity. We certainly enjoyed sharing!
