Message from Principal Sarah

From Sarah Nightingale, Principal

It’s hard to believe we are halfway through Term 2. The year is going by so quickly, while it still only seems like yesterday when we were welcoming students back to school for the 2024 school year.

Semester 1 Reports

Teachers are busy finalising student assessment data in preparation for our Semester 1 reports. Over the next couple of weeks, all teachers will be working in Professional Learning Teams to moderate student data in order to make consistent and comparable judgements of student learning against the Victorian Curriculum. We look forward to sharing your child’s learning journey with you in their Semester 1 report which will be released via Compass at the end of Term 2.

School Events

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at NMPS, with our Family Breakfast, Education Week,  Education Support Personnel Day and Cross Country to name a few events!

We thank the school community for their attendance at our Family Breakfast and Education Week Open Classroom events. It was lovely to see such a great turn out at all events. While it’s not everyday parents and carers enter the classrooms, it is very clear to see the enjoyment the students have when showcasing their learning. Please continue reading this newsletter to see some highlights of both the Family Breakfast and Education Week Open Classrooms.

Looking ahead, next week we celebrate National Reconciliation Week. This is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Teachers and students will be learning about National Reconciliation Week throughout the week, including National Sorry Day which falls on Sunday 26th May.

2023 Annual Report to the School Community

The Annual Report to the School Community provides principals and school councils with an opportunity to share the year’s achievements and progress with the school community. This includes reflecting on the school’s performance and explaining the positive impact of school improvement efforts on student outcomes.

Our 2023 Annual Reporting Community Meeting will be held at 5:30pm on Thursday 20th June. If you would like to attend this meeting, please register your interest via this link. More information regarding the location of the meeting will be shared closer to the date.

Illnesses

Covid is again making its unwelcome presence felt, with multiple staff and students currently absent from school for this reason. Please assist us by keeping your child home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms.
