MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING
Wellbeing at Chilwell
Since the implementation of FISO 2.0, we have initiated many changes to ensure that Well-being is a priority alongside Learning. We have a strong Well-being Team including an Inclusive Practice Leader,Mental Health and Well-being Leader and our Respectful Relationships and The Resilience Project Leaders. We also have our Well-being Groups, Calm Club and Art Club, and we are fortunate to be supported by our School Counsellor, Psychologist and Occupational Therapist.
In an effort to steer away from being reactive when managing student well-being – the graph below is a positive reminder of all the work being implemented at the preventative end, by engaging students, teachers and whole school communities to create an environment that fosters respect, equality and inclusiveness.
This data set compares reported negative student behaviour on each day of the week, from semester1 (2023) in blue and semester 2 (2023) in orange. We responded to this initial data by implementingprograms such as Lunchtime Clubs, Peer Supervision and Active Supervision.
We will continue to publish information pertaining to data around Wellbeing. Our approach is flexibleand responsive to student needs.
Puzzle Table
The puzzle table in the library can be used by students before school on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays during Calm Club. This can be a quiet, calm buffer between home and starting the school day. Calm Club begins at 8:40am on these days.
Term 2 Peer Supervisors
Peer Supervisors will be out and about during recess and lunch breaks, they will be wearing an orange vest. Our Peer Supervisors can support students to develop:
- Social and emotional skills to assist students to join in a game or find a friend to play with.
- Skills to problem-solve and manage the normal stressors of the playground.
- Healthy relationships and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

Chilwell Community Garden Expressions of Interest!
We anticipate needing support to develop our garden area at the Chilwell Community Garden. This will involve building garden beds, shovelling soil, helping to plant seedlings and helping to get our area all set up. If this sounds like something you’re able to help us with, please email catherine.burns@education.vic.gov.au
Thank you!
