Careers
Madison O’Connell is a Year 11 VCE student at Seymour College. Madison sees a future working in the hospitality industry and recently visited Brewers Table in Seymour seeking some work placement. Carmen Fifield, the owner of the Brewers Table has always been a wonderful supporter of providing students with the opportunity to experience working in the café & restaurant environment. Madison really enjoyed the work placement and began a conversation with Carmen about her wish to complete a Certificate III in Hospitality. Carmen was willing to support Madison plans and arrangements were made for the school-based traineeship to progress. As Madison is a VCE student, she will work each Wednesday at Brewers and still attend her VCE classes the remaining four days a week. GO Tafe will provide the training of the Certificate III in Hospitality with online lessons and workplace visits.
Trade & Tech Fit Excursion
The Trade & Tech Fit is specifically designed for Year 9 female students to experience skills in traditionally male industries including expanding technology exhibitors associated with clean energy, software and electric vehicle businesses and much more. It was an opportunity to enlighten them on, and to broaden their understanding of some of the career opportunities available to them which they might not have previously considered.
'Careers Day Out' careers expo
On Thursday last week a group of year 10 students attended the Careers Day Out careers expo in Shepparton. The Careers Day Out event provided students with the opportunity to find out about possible work experience and employment opportunities from a range of industries as well as the opportunity to talk to several TAFE and University representatives regarding tertiary study opportunities.
