Grade 3/4C News

Last week we celebrated Education Week and students enjoyed some additional activities. Parents were invited to our primary classrooms on Thursday 16th May and students appreciated their attendance. Our Year 3 and 4 students, as pictured, were especially creative.

Grade 3/4A News

As part of geography Grades 3/4 have been learning about the many great states of Australia. The state capitals, populations, manmade features, and beautiful natural features such as national parks, rivers and lakes.

Recently we have also been learning how to persuade people to our point of view, with topics including ‘why all students should have their own laptop, to being able to ride bikes and scooters around the school, or why children should have their own credit cards.’

During Education Week we were lucky to have some parents come to our open afternoon. Students participated in STEM activities, creating the longest paper chain, making rockets and exploring the domino effect.

This week we had fun with Andrew McDonald and Ben Wood, the author and illustrator of the Real Pigeons series of books. They taught us how to draw a pigeon and even wrote a story with us about a pigeon hunting for food and finding a bread volcano!

On Monday 29th April, which was a beautiful autumn day, our students participated in the Cross Country on our oval.  From this event, some students progressed to District Cross Country on Tuesday 14th May at the Seymour Racecourse.  The Rangers division will be held this Friday in Yea.  Congratulations to everyone who participated and advanced!

Grade 5/6 News

Students have engaged in discussions around Reconciliation Day and the significance of the event. The students worked with our Koorie Literacy Numeracy Tutor to create a poem about respect, pride and Country.
