Principal's Report

Debbie Oliver

Next week at Seymour College and across the nation we celebrate National Reconciliation Week.  The theme for 2024 is Now More Than Ever, and it is a reminder to all of us that the fight for justice and the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people is important now and into the future. Our primary students and some of our secondary-aged students will have the opportunity on Monday, the 27th of May, to interact with Mitch Tambo. Mitch Tambo is a proud Gamilaraay man whose mob is one of the four largest Indigenous nations (NSW to Southern QLD). He is an indigenous cultural performer who delivers interactive, culturally sensitive programs with the hope of empowering young people to engage with identity and self-belief.  Some people might remember Mitch for his short performance on Australia's Got Talent in 2019. Please see the link below:

We look forward to this performance and thank Kylie Doyle, our Murrang Lead Teacher for organising this wonderful experience for our children.

Regards
