NEWS & ADMINISTRATION
Mrs Caroline Galea
This week our Year 4 students celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is a first major step after their Baptism. We congratulate our students and their families on this major milestone. It is difficult for us to give up time in reflective prayer, however it was lovely to spend this time just quietly waiting for each child to have their special time.
This group of children will also be making their First Eucharist later in the year.
I sincerely hope that you all had a wonderful Mother's day and enjoyed the fabulous gifts that your children bought you from the Mother's Day stall. Thank you to the P&F and in particular, Mariella and the volunteers on the day, for a wonderful stall. I would also like to extend our gratitude and thanks to the wonderful families and grandparents who donated items on the day. In particular we would like to thank Susan, Fine Wipe Cleaning and
A Friend Forever for your generosity.
Our P&F work hard to raise funds to make improvements to our school. Our car show this year raised $13,000, between the day and sponsorship. Our job now is to get some quotes on replacing the surface of the bottom basketball courts, as after many years it is now starting to come apart and needs replacing. A combination of P&F and school funds will go toward replacing this.
On another note, I would like to ask the community to keep Derryn and his family in their prayers. Derryn's wife Ana has recently been diagnosed with a tumour in her Pituitary gland. She had surgery to remove it last Monday, but will need some time to recover. Derryn is away from work at present and will return when he is ready.
Prep 2025
Just a reminder that if you have a child that will be entering Prep in 2025, please fill out an enrolment form. Forms can be collected at the office.
Circular Driveway
Of late, parents using the circular driveway have become increasingly concerned about the following matters:
School Photo Day
Next Thursday is school photo day. Please ensure that your child is wearing their proper winter uniform.
Please note that orders and payment can only be processed through Schoolpix.
Children are to wear their complete winter school uniform. Even if it is a warmer day, please send your child to school with their jumper or windcheater. Children who have sport on photo day are encouraged to bring their runners to school so these can be worn during sport.
For those families who have siblings at school and wish to order a sibling photo, you must do this before 8am on photo day.
Reporting your Child's Absence
We have noticed a lot of children coming to school who are ill. Please do not send your child to school if they are obviously unwell, as this will just be passed onto others.
You can now report your child's absence by leaving a message on our answering machine. When you do this, please make sure you clearly state your child's name, grade and reason for absence. There is no need to leave your phone number. You can also email the teacher (& cc the office) or speak to Leanne in person. We ask that you do not report absences via Seesaw.
Parent Representatives
Each year we put out a call for classroom reps. A classroom rep's role is to act as a conjuit between the school and the parents. They are also the point of call for new parents that may join Holy Name and they organise one or two outings for either the whole group (children and parents) or just parents. Please let Leanne know if this is something you are interested in. The reps so far are:
Grade PB: Teresa Racovalis & Bianca Follachio
Grade PK: Nadah Horkos & Doniya Foundoglou
Grade 1/2B:
Grade 1/2H: Antonietta Arceri
Grade 1/2S:
Grade 3/4B: Joana O'Neill
Grade 3/4M:
Grade 3/4Z: Antonietta Arceri
Grade 5/6A: Stephanie Butera & Doniya Foundoglou
Grade 5/6C: Stephanie Butera
Grade 5/6K: Carmela Gervasoni
Canteen
Just a reminder that if you place a lunch order in advance and your child is unwell, you need to cancel it prior to 8.30am on the day.
