Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community,

Prayer

We pray for our Sacred Heart Community's families:

First Eucharist

Congratulations to our First Eucharist recipients from last Sunday. In a spirit filled ceremony our students were joined by Annabelle and Chloe who were previously students in our school and our student Tristin's older brother and sister Tayshaun and Aliyah. Thank you to all involved in the preparation of the students and the organisation on the day. In particular I would like to thank Father Aloysius, our Religious Education Coordinator Kate for all her work and the students from our school who participated in the beautiful choir.

Feast Of The Sacred Heart

We will celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart with our wider Parish on Sunday 9th June, with a special celebration of the Eucharist at 10.30am. Our eleven students (Maxi, Glendon, Ishe, Azariah, Onella, Brenton, Natalie, Jasmine, Jemimah, Shamus and Aleisha) who are training to be altar servers will be commissioned during the Mass. We have some other roles for students to carry out during the celebration. If you think you will be at this Mass and are happy for your child to fill a role please let me know.

Annual Report To Community

Each year, all Victorian Schools are required to publish an Annual Report to the School Community (ARSC).

The purpose of the ARSC is to inform parents and the wider school community of the school's successes, activities, and achievements throughout the year, and to meet legislative and regulatory requirements under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) (ETR Act), the Education and Training Reform Regulations 2017, Australian Education Act 2013 (Cth) and the Australian Education Regulations 2023 (Cth).

Through this process, and as principal I also attest to our school’s compliance with the minimum standards and requirements for school registration.

Our Leadership finished our ARSC for 2023 last week and it will be presented to our School Advisory Council at our next meeting in June. Following this presentation the ARSC will be available through our school's website.

School Captains Acknowledged

I picked up the school captain's plaque yesterday from the engravers, after it had this years captains Harper and Jacob's names engraved. Like our previous captains since 2018, Jacob and Harper can return to our school in the future and proudly see their names engraved for posterity.

After School Chess Program

The after school chess program which we ran last year will happen again this year. Further details will follow as we get closer to the program commencing in Term Three. I have requested some changes to the way the sessions are run, with each session commencing with a teaching component and our students then being matched with fellow students with similar chess ability.

Classroom Helpers

At Sacred Heart we are so lucky to have great parents like Sally who help our teachers as classroom helpers. Our students enjoy the extra help, teachers really appreciate the assistance and the helpers like Sally love being involved in our school.

CDS Victoria

As you can see from the receipt below, your efforts have allowed us to raise a valuable amount of money for our school in a short time. We will continue to collect cans and bottles as whilst it is a great environmental initiative, it is a relatively easy fund raiser for our school.

Yours Sincerely

Mark
