K-2 Reading Meetings - How to Help your Child with Reading at Home

It was great to see many parents attend the Reading Meetings last week. Please find the link to the slides with the information on how you can support your child with reading at home in the early years of Primary School.

Public Speaking Semi Finals

Congratulations to Annam Albertella and Sebastian Portus who participated in the Public Speaking Semi Finals held at St. Andrew’s Malabar on 30 May. Both students were magnificent in their delivery and proudly represented St Aidan’s. Well done!

Sebastian Portus was selected to deliver his speech at the Grand Finals which will be held on Wednesday 12 June at OLSH Randwick. We wish him all the best as he competes against other Sydney Catholic Schools students nearby.

Years 3-6 World of Maths - Hands on Maths Workshops

As part of this term’s work, we have invited World of Maths (a travelling, interactive Maths Workshop) to visit St Aidan’s.

World of Maths offers an ideal opportunity for students to see how Maths is applied to everyday life situations, and explore Maths in a hands-on environment. Students will be encouraged to communicate their Mathematical thinking with other students in small teams. They will gain insight into problem solving, working in teams, and explore various Mathematical concepts that are part of their curriculum.

It is a highly engaging session, showing the importance of Maths as it is everywhere and that Maths can be fun!

ICAS Assessments - Term 3

Students in Years 2-6 have the opportunity to showcase and celebrate their talents in the world-renowned ICAS competition this year.

What is ICAS?

ICAS is an online academic competition that gives students the opportunity to challenge their higher order thinking and problem-solving skills in English, Mathematics, Science, Writing, Spelling Bee, and Digital Technologies.

Every student who participates is celebrated and recognised with a printed certificate in each subject area, and an online results report to track development each year. Top performers are eligible for one of the highly coveted ICAS medals.
