WELCOME BACK

T2 2024

A very warm welcome back to Term 2 and welcome to a number of new families to our wonderful school community!

Over the past 12 months we have added to our range of strategies to support and build our high behaviour expectations across our school to ensure that all children are safe, engaged, happy and thriving as learners and staff are able to successfully teach.

As I have mentioned in previous newsletters we continue to teach and focus on our school values and these are integral to our high behaviour expectations of – ‘We are Respectful, We are Inclusive and We are Learners.’

This is reflected in our Behaviour Expectations Matrix below which is taught and discussed regularly in all classrooms.

Each term staff identify two behaviour areas to focus on as a whole school which we teach, model, provide positive explicit feedback and acknowledge students with house points when they display these positive behaviours. This is then celebrated with a whole school event as voted by the students.

In Term 1 our focus was, ‘Pack up/finish our play and return to class when the music bell starts’ and ‘We are brave – we participate to progress by attempting all learning tasks.’ Our learners did an amazing job, earning a PJ Day celebration on the last day of term!

Throughout Term 2 our behaviour teaching will focus on, Allow all adults to teach and students to learn’ and ‘Have reasons for the things you say and do.’

I wonder what the students will choose for our school-wide celebration to recognize our hard work and efforts this term. We look forward to it…
