Term 2, Week 6 - Friday 24th May, 2024
Dear Families of OLSC
Who can believe that we are over half way through Term 2. As the cold weather really sets in please ensure that all of the students winter items are clearly labelled with their names. At the moment after each break there are dozens of clothing items left outside and it is proving to be a challenge to find the owners when there are no names.
I remind all drivers of the importance to be super careful and vigilant when driving around the school at drop off and pick up times. During these super busy moments there are lots of students moving around the school and so extra care is needed.
There has been some reports of parents on their phones and texting even when driving into the car park. Please remember that this is not only dangerous but also against the law. It is everyone's job to ensure the safety of the community when driving around the school.
Exciting news!! Australian children's author and illustrator, Adam Wallace, is coming to OLSC next term. On Monday 22nd July, Adam is visiting our school to talk with the students about the books he has written and the pictures he draws. Over the next few weeks, the students will be able to access some of his books in their classrooms to read and enjoy with their teachers. Adam has written the Fart Boy, Farty Pets, Fart Club and 'How to Catch a...' series of books (to name a few) - have a look to see if you have any of his books at home!
All year levels will spend time with Adam on the day in the school's sports hall. If the students have one of Adam's books at home they are welcome to bring one in for him to autograph.
A reminder that we are participating in the Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge this year. Your child has already received their unique login details from their teacher. If you haven't already, please use the links in the letter for parents and the slideshow below to log them into their dashboard.
Please note: the website does not have digital books to read. The books that the children read at home or school can be recorded on the website. We ask that the children only add the books they have read after logging in to their dashboard for the first time. They are not to add books they have already read earlier this year or from previous years.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with your child's teacher via Dojo or email me at kmorrissey@olscwyn.catholic.edu.au
