Careers

Year 10 students

Careers staff have delivered two Careers classes to Year 10 students during their Life Skills lessons this term. During these classes we have unpacked their Morrisby profiles with them and strongly encouraged students to download their detailed report, review it carefully and discuss it with their parents. Students have also learned about the VCE and VCE Vocational Major programs, subject selection and useful careers resources - information about these resources is in their bright green folders, folders which are not only useful throughout Brookhill but also for life beyond Aitken. During class the students were very attentive and asked sensible questions as they prepare for the big decisions they will make in Term 3.

The Year 10's are aware they can visit us in B21 or send an email to Careers staff if they have any queries. There is also lots of help for our Year 10 students during Term 3 - an Information evening and subject Expo on Tuesday 16 July, a Year 10 Careers Panel on Friday 19 July, an interview with their Homeroom Teacher and a one-on-one 30 minute interview with Careers staff before the Year 10 students need to indicate which VCE program they will be choosing and the subjects or TAFE program they will be selecting.

Year 12 students

Year 12 VCE students will attend the La Trobe University Tertiary Information and Exploration excursion on Wednesday 29 May. Students will meet with, and talk to, representatives from La Trobe University and attend seminars and hands on workshops. Permission slips for this excursion have been sent to parents via Consent2Go. Thank you to those who have already returned the Permission Slip for their child, could those with outstanding Permission Slips be returned as soon as possible.

Students have been asked to select 2 workshops they would like to attend on this excursion. Many students have already returned their preference forms but if they have not already done so, could you please encourage your child to return their workshop preference information as soon as possible.
