VCE Play: ‘Dolly Stainer of Kew Cottages’
Last week, the Year 12 Theatre Studies students presented the VCE play “Dolly Stainer of Kew Cottages”. Over three performances, the students told the real-life story of Dolly Stainer.
The performances marked a significant milestone for our talented students, as it forms a crucial component of their major assessment in Theatre Studies. Their dedication, passion, and creativity were evident in the amazing performances.
From acting to set design, lighting to stage management, our students took ownership of numerous aspects of the production, showcasing their versatility and teamwork, under the invaluable guidance and expertise of Mr Michael Cooper, Year 12 Theatre Studies teacher, and Director of this production.
For the final performance, the students were lucky to have the playwright of “Dolly Stainer of Kew Cottages”, Janet Brown, in the audience.
Janet thoroughly enjoyed the performance saying “I am blown away by the quality of the work everyone has contributed to the production, it was excellent. Most importantly, what I read in the program about how much the team have enjoyed about the relationships they have developed by working together really impressed me…that is the special quality of making theatre.”
