Year 12 VM students cultivate a thriving garden

By Mr Graeme Kane, BHHS Staff

The Year 12 VM students have been working very hard to build their very own garden called the VM Patch. The students successfully pitched an exciting school garden project to Principal Kellie Ind, turning an unused area into a vibrant learning space. The project, which began as an ambitious vision, has been progressing in stages, and the results are already blossoming.

Stage 1: Recovery

The students started by recovering the neglected area, clearing debris and preparing the land for the next steps. This initial phase laid the foundation for the garden’s future success.

Stage 2: New Dirt

Next, the students added fresh soil, enriching the land and ensuring it was fertile enough to support a variety of plants. This crucial step set the stage for the upcoming planting.

Stage 3: Planting

With the area almost ready, the students are keen to get vegetables planted so they can grow over the winter period. The students have picked a diverse range of vegetables that will be harvested in late spring.

Stage 4: Harvest

Looking ahead, the students are eager for the harvest stage, where they will reap the veggies of their labour and share their successes with the school community.

Thanks to Principal Ind’s support, the Year 12 VM students have created something truly special that will benefit the entire school.
